Never Forgotten

My best friend of 17 years called me today. I was ending my day with my class when she called. I couldn't take her call, but I knew what it was about.
When I called her back, my fear was realized, her dad, Mr. Larimer had passed away.
Mr. Larimer was not just her dad, he was my college choir director and sometimes was a dad to me, too. While at Albion, if I couldn't make it home for a holiday or visit with my parents, I was always at the Larimer house. Sometimes when Jen and I just wanted to be "home", watch tv and not think about school, we would head to her house.

It had been 10 years since I had last seen Mr. Larimer when I saw him at Jen's wedding on this past New Year's Eve. I was so glad I had that chance. He was so proud of her and happy to be there to celebrate her special day.
My heart is with Jen and her family as they celebrate Mr. Larimer's life and legacy. His full obituary can be read at http://www.albion.edu/news/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=376
